About this place

Built-up area: 1200 meters
Number of rooms: 15
Age of the building: 200 years
This residence is one of the oldest houses on Kish Island, featuring a completely native architectural style. The owner of this house was the late Haj Abdullah bin Shaheen, a well-known and beloved figure of Kish over the past 80 years, a pearl merchant and owner of one of the largest sailing dhows of that time, who was also skilled in trade and dhow-building (galafi). This house was converted into the Kish Natives Ethnology House with the aim of introducing the history, culture, customs, livelihoods and unique handicrafts of Kish natives, creating employment, involving locals in the tourism sector, and achieving sustainable tourism development. All the rooms and spaces of the house were restored using local materials while preserving the traditional architecture and show the lifestyle of Kish natives over the past 80 years.
