The IFA trade show is one of Europe's most important consumer technology events and this year again draws more than 200,000 visitors and numerous major electronics manufacturers to Berlin.
Although the exhibition takes place from September 4 to 8, many of the most important announcements were made in the days before the official start of the show.
Acer; a hybrid laptop and handheld console
According to ITNA, one of this year's standout IFA products is Acer's Project DualPlay Mini; a Windows handheld console that aims to narrow the gap between handheld consoles and gaming laptops.
In its normal mode the device is a handheld console with a screen, joystick, D-pad and control buttons, but its hinge design allows the screen to rotate and access a small backlit keyboard.
Acer also introduced the 7-inch Predator Atlas 7, which is equipped with an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and an Arc B390 GPU.
In the laptop segment the Swift Blade 14 has attracted attention with a weight of only 799 grams. This product is made using carbon fiber and its thickness reaches about 12.95 millimeters. Acer also introduced the Vero 16 laptop with a repairable design whose battery and SSD are replaceable and that allows CPU upgrades for at least two generations.
OLED displays with stunning refresh rates
Alienware also introduced a new generation of its OLED monitors at IFA 2026.
The AW3226Q model is a 32-inch 4K monitor with a Tandem OLED panel and a 165 Hz refresh rate that uses an RGB Stripe structure for clearer text rendering.
The more appealing model for professional gamers is the AW2527HX; a 25-inch QD-OLED display with an extraordinary 560 Hz refresh rate designed for esports.
Wi-Fi 8 routers enter the field
One of the most important connectivity trends at this year's IFA is the move toward the next generation of wireless networks.
TP-Link introduced two products, the Archer 8 Ultra and Deco 8 Ultra, aimed at supporting the developing Wi-Fi 8 standard.
The Archer 8 Ultra features 18 internal antennas and its announced wireless speed reaches 19 gigabits per second.
The Deco 8 Ultra mesh system can also provide up to 22 gigabits per second of wireless speed and, in a three-pack, cover an area of about 910 square meters. Of course the Wi-Fi 8 standard is not finalized yet.
AI moves to the heart of the smart home
In the smart home segment LG unveiled the conversational assistant ThinQ Claw; which the company says can understand user intent and the context of a request and coordinate tasks by connecting various devices and services.
This approach shows that the smart home industry is gradually moving from simple device control toward AI agents; meaning the user states their goal instead of issuing individual commands, and the intelligent agent performs the necessary set of actions.
In the cleaning domain iRobot returned to IFA with the Roomba Max 875 Combo. This flagship robotic vacuum and mop was introduced at a price of $1,199 and simultaneously the Roomba Plus 678 Combo was offered at $899.
IFA 2026; the start of a busy tech season
The initial announcements at IFA show that this year's exhibition provides a picture of the market's main trends rather than focusing on a single product: AI in the home, lighter and more flexible computers, faster OLED displays and next-generation wireless networks.
At the same time, September 2026 has become one of the busiest months of the year for smartphone launches, and after IFA companies such as Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei and other manufacturers will also introduce their new products.
According to The Verge, many of IFA's major announcements were made before the exhibition doors officially opened and media coverage and product reviews will continue throughout the event.
