Instagram has provided a new feature that allows users to add photos and posts they are tagged in directly to their main profile grid. This way, users can display some of their favorite tagged posts alongside other content published on their profile grid.

The tab for tagged posts still exists on users’ profiles and all posts they are tagged in are visible in that section. However, if a user wants a particular post to also appear in their main profile grid, they can now move it there.

Instagram cited group photos, collaborations between creators, and memory-keeping as examples of how this feature can be used; however, users can add any tagged post they wish to their main profile grid.

How to add tagged posts to your profile?

There are several ways to add a tagged post to the main profile grid. Users can do this directly from the direct notification they receive when they are tagged. Another method is using the three-dot menu at the top right corner of a post in which the user is tagged.

You can also use the tagged posts tab in the profile. By pressing and holding a post in this section, the option to add it to the main profile grid is shown.

After selecting the “Add to Grid” option, Instagram reminds users that adding a post to the profile does not necessarily change its access level. Who can view the post still depends on the account’s privacy settings and the account that tagged the user in that post.

If a user later changes their mind, they can remove the tagged post from the main profile grid without having to delete the post entirely.

Ability to sort tagged posts

Tagged posts that are added to the main profile grid are placed in that section by default in reverse chronological order. However, users can change their display order to their liking.

This feature is related to the ability to reorder profile posts on Instagram, which the company rolled out in June, a year after announcing it. Users can move posts in their profile regardless of when they were published.

As a result, users can create their desired look and layout on the Instagram profile grid by combining regular posts and tagged photos and changing their order.
