According to published reports, Samsung has secured a three-year contract to supply displays for the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable phone; under this deal Apple will pay Samsung about $250 for each display.

According to Etna, this collaboration is a step that places both tech giants in a better position to strengthen their commercial relations.

It had previously been revealed that Samsung manufactures the iPhone Duo displays and also holds exclusive distribution rights for these displays.

According to the report, Apple practically had no choice but to accept this agreement, since no other supplier was able to provide the displays the company needed.

Earlier reports indicated that LG Display, another of Apple’s main display suppliers, had no activity in producing foldable panels.

BOE had also supplied such displays to Huawei, but their products did not meet Apple’s quality requirements for use in the iPhone.

The internal display of the iPhone Duo is structurally much more complex than the display of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and this justifies its higher production cost; a process mainly resulting from the intensive and complex manufacturing procedures for these types of displays.

Notably, the reported $250 figure does not include assembly and testing costs and relates only to the primary (internal) display of the device; the report made no mention of the price of the external display.

The iPhone Duo, with a book-style design, has an external display and a larger foldable internal display, marking Apple’s first official entry into the foldable phone market.

The base price of this product for this year has been announced as $1,999. The high cost of manufacturing these displays reflects precise engineering to achieve better brightness, longer lifespan, and a significant reduction in crease visibility along the fold - features that again highlight Samsung’s key role as Apple’s main display supplier.
