Meta apparently intends to expand the smart glasses market by introducing a different product.
According to a new report that has not yet been confirmed by the company, Meta is developing smart glasses called Luna that, unlike many of today’s smart glasses, will not be equipped with a camera.
According to ITNA quoting GSMArena, this decision could be attractive to users who are interested in smart glasses features but do not want to use a product equipped with a camera.
The published report claims Meta Luna is expected to be unveiled at the company’s annual developer event, scheduled for September 23 and 24. Apparently, the product’s release is also planned for October.
Despite the removal of the camera, Meta Luna will still offer a set of smart features to users.
The glasses will be equipped with six internal microphones that enable the user’s voice to be received and allow voice interaction with the device. Speakers will also be placed near the user’s ear to play response audio and other audio content.
One of Meta Luna’s most important features will be Meta’s artificial intelligence. Users will be able to interact with this smart assistant by voice, and a button on the side of the glasses will be provided for quick activation.
No further details about the design, price, battery life, and other technical specifications of this product have been released.
It should also be noted that information about Meta Luna is currently at the level of reports and rumors, and Meta has not yet officially confirmed the existence of these smart glasses.
If this report is true, the introduction of camera-less smart glasses could create a different path for Meta’s wearable products - a product that, instead of imaging, will focus primarily on voice interaction and access to artificial intelligence.
