Google Photos intends to make the photo-editing experience more fun, simpler, and more engaging for its users. In its latest official blog post, the company unveiled five new features in Google Photos aimed at making it easier to find, edit, and share users' best photos.

What are the new Google Photos features?

The first feature is introduced under the title “Photos in Gemini Spark.” Users can, with a simple command, select the best photos from a trip or an event, improve their lighting quality, and then easily share them.

The next feature is called “Wardrobe.” This feature, first introduced in June, is now available to a wider range of users. Google Photos automatically recognizes and catalogs the clothes in a user's photos and builds a digital wardrobe from them; users can use this virtual wardrobe to try new outfit combinations.

The third feature is called “Moods,” which gives images a nostalgic look inspired by old analog photographs. Functionally this feature is similar to common filters and presets, except that, according to Google, these effects intelligently adapt to the content of each photo; a suitable option for fans of the feel of old compact cameras.

Which feature is the most appealing?

It seems the “Remix” feature will gain the most popularity among users. This tool allows everyday photos to be turned into images with the look of red-carpet moments, birthday greeting cards, photo booth pictures, and similar designs.

Finally, Google Photos' Markup tool has also been upgraded. This tool now includes an editing pen capable of blurring sensitive information in images; a feature that allows users to share their screenshots without worrying about exposing personal information. In addition, line-thickness adjustment sliders and a set of new fonts for adding text to images have been added for more precise designs.

Why do these changes matter?

Google Photos has long been a popular option for storing images. With this set of updates, the app can now act as more than simple storage; from intelligently selecting the best photos to helping plan users' daily outfits. According to Android Police, for users who have stored a large number of photos over the summer, now is a good time to open the app and try these new features.
