Google has finally unveiled the new generation of Googlebook laptops; a product that, unlike Chromebooks, is not merely a lightweight OS-based laptop and seeks to turn Android into a full operating system for personal computers. The first models are produced by Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo, and their prices start from 899 to 1299 dollars.

According to ITna quoting Techspot, Google designed Googlebook specifically for Android phone users. During initial sign-in, the device can transfer phone settings, saved passwords and Wi‑Fi connections. Also, phone files and messages are directly accessible through the laptop, and the user can continue an activity started in a mobile app on the Googlebook. These devices, in addition to running native Android apps, also support the desktop version of the Chrome browser and its extensions.

Artificial intelligence is also a central part of the Googlebook user experience. The Gemini assistant can be activated by moving the mouse and answer questions or perform various tasks. A dedicated Rambler button also converts speech into formatted titles, lists and text. Users can even create custom widgets or different apps using text commands.

On the hardware side, the Dell and HP models are equipped with Snapdragon X Elite processors and the other models use Intel Core Ultra 5 processors. All chips have a neural processing unit (NPU) with up to 45 teraflops of performance. The base models also have 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.

Google has also included the Titan C2 security chip, a fingerprint sensor, some models with face recognition, high-resolution touch displays and bodies made of aluminum, magnesium alloy and carbon fiber. Googlebooks will be available in the U.S. from October 4 and in Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany and Australia from October 5.
