Apple has not yet announced official details of the next-generation iPhone, but early rumors suggest the possibility of abandoning the iPhone 19 name and releasing the iPhone 20 directly in 2027. The main reason for this decision could be the twentieth anniversary of the introduction of the first iPhone. The first iPhone was released in 2007, and therefore 2027 would be an appropriate opportunity to introduce a special and different model.
According to ITNA quoting Techadvisor, based on current reports, Apple will likely unveil the first iPhone 20 models in early September 2027. In recent years the company has typically unveiled new iPhone generations in September. The high-end models are expected to be introduced first, with cheaper versions reaching the market in spring 2028.
The most important part of the rumors relates to the design of the iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max. It is said that Apple may consider a completely new design for the anniversary models; a change reminiscent of the introduction of the iPhone X on the tenth anniversary of the iPhone. One of the proposed ideas is the use of a four-sided curved display that could largely hide the bezels and even the device frame and create an appearance similar to a single sheet of glass.
There are also rumors about moving the camera and Face ID sensors under the display. However, some reports say current technology still lacks the necessary quality to completely remove the display notch and this part may remain on the iPhone 20 as well. There is even the possibility of removing physical buttons and replacing them with touch sensors equipped with haptic feedback.
It is said that prototypes of the iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max will have displays of about 6.41 and 6.96 inches respectively; however these details have not yet been confirmed. In terms of hardware, a successor to the A20 chip, likely called the A21, is expected to be used in these phones along with improvements to the camera and battery.
Nevertheless, all of this information is at the rumor stage and many of these details may change by the time of the official unveiling. The price is also unknown, but given rising component costs and the high price of current Pro models, there is a possibility of an increase in the price of the iPhone 20 compared to the current generation.
