Range Rover has begun testing its first all-electric SUV near the Arctic Circle in Sweden; a model that, despite using entirely new technologies, remains visually faithful to the well-known Range Rover family.
According to Eitna via ArenaEV, unlike some automakers that release a set of images and promotional teasers before unveiling new products, Land Rover has decided to demonstrate the capabilities of its new electric vehicle directly in harsh weather conditions.
One of the most important features of the electric Range Rover is its advanced traction control system. Land Rover engineers have designed this system to be able to adjust the torque of each wheel within a few milliseconds; a speed that, compared to conventional systems, provides much faster control. This technology can improve the vehicle's agility, stability, and control on various terrains.
Although details about the powertrain have not yet been announced, Range Rover has promised that its electric motors will deliver performance on par with vehicles equipped with a V8 engine. The use of an 800-volt architecture also indicates this model is designed for high performance and fast-charging capabilities.
Range Rover also does not intend to abandon its off-road characteristics in the transition to electric. This vehicle is being built on a dedicated platform in the United Kingdom and is expected to offer notable performance in capabilities such as towing and water fording. In this way, the electric Range Rover seeks to offer a combination of luxury, advanced technology, and off-road ability.
