According to the Public Relations and International Affairs of the Kish Free Zone Organization, Reza Hakami, Deputy of Urban Affairs of Kish Development, Water and Services Company, in a radio and television interview referring to preventive measures for managing rainfall said: urban management arrangements for heavy rainfall conditions have been foreseen but considering that about 12 to 13 kilometers of Kish's sewage network are worn out and under heavy rainfall conditions, there is a possibility of damage occurring in some parts of it. Therefore, preparing equipment, anticipating operational needs and taking necessary measures to manage post-rainfall conditions are on the agenda.

He also emphasized the necessity of private property and landowners' participation in preventive measures and said: inspecting water exit routes in these areas before the start of rainfall, especially for properties whose owners are not present on the island, can help better manage runoff.

Hakami also, referring to past rainfall experience and recording over 900 calls related to building inundations, stressed the necessity of residents checking floor drains, gullies and water exit routes on roofs, yards, basements and parking lots before rainfall begins.

He further considered observing safety recommendations essential and asked citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during rainfall, be careful in choosing parking locations and, when winds blow, to keep away from tall buildings, buildings under construction and old buildings whose components may fall, and, referring to the role of citizen participation in managing runoff, asked Kish residents to report channels, manholes and routes in need of cleaning via the 137 and 124 systems.

The Deputy of Urban Affairs of Kish Development, Water and Services Company concluded by noting: the company's operational forces continue their activities during and after rainfall and with the preparedness of executive units and the cooperation of citizens, efforts are made to minimize potential damages.
