According to the latest beta of WhatsApp for iOS, this popular messenger is testing a new feature that allows users to fully customize the set of six default reaction emojis.
According to ITNA quoting 9to5Mac, this feature, identified in the TestFlight (WhatsApp beta) version, will soon allow replacing standard emojis such as 👍, ❤️, 😂, 😮, 😢 and 🙏 with any desired emoji.
According to WABetaInfo, a new section titled “Default reactions” will be added in settings, through which users can edit the emojis in the reaction tray (which appears by long-pressing a message).
This change not only allows users to express a wider range of feelings, but also makes each person’s frequently used personal reactions more accessible.
Interestingly, this feature may initially be intended for subscribers of the paid WhatsApp Plus service, although its final details are not yet clear.
Users can change any number of these six reactions they want, and if desired, the option to always revert to the default will be available.
Although this feature is not yet enabled even for beta users, given that similar signs have previously been seen in the Android version, public testing is expected to begin soon and then be released in the final version for all users.
This development is an important step toward increasing users’ control over their messaging experience and allows them to tailor reactions to their communication style.
