The iPhone 18 Pro's battery life has seen a significant improvement compared to the previous generation.
According to eITNA quoting 9to5mac, Apple says the new generation marks the biggest jump in iPhone battery life in history, and this increased endurance is the result of a combination of a new physical battery design, greater efficiency of the A20 Pro chip, and operating system optimizations.
Based on Apple's official figures, the iPhone 17 Pro offered up to 30 hours of streamed video playback, but the iPhone 18 Pro has raised that to 33 hours; about a 10 percent increase in battery life. In the larger model, the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 35 hours of video playback has been replaced by the iPhone 18 Pro Max with up to 40 hours, indicating an increase of about 14 percent.
In addition to the video playback metric, Apple has introduced a new metric for measuring battery life that is closer to everyday use. This test considers activities such as messaging, photography, gaming, and web browsing. According to this metric, the iPhone 18 Pro can last up to 24 hours and the iPhone 18 Pro Max up to 30 hours on a single charge.
Of course these figures relate to eSIM-equipped models, such as the versions sold in the United States. Models with a physical SIM card, which are sold in many international markets, offer about 2 hours less video playback due to the space required for the SIM card tray.
On the other hand, the iPhone Duo, as Apple's first foldable iPhone, uses two battery cells; however it must power two displays, including the 7.8-inch internal display. Apple has stated 26 hours for the internal display and up to 37 hours for the external display of video playback. Therefore, under heavy use of the internal display, the iPhone Duo's battery life will be roughly comparable to the iPhone 17 Pro.
