The head of the Statistical Center of Iran announced the start of the "General Population and Housing Census" in two phases.
According to him, the internet and non-attendance phase of this program will begin in early Mehr 1405, and its field operations will also start from the first of Aban.
According to Gholamreza Goodarzi, the 1405 census will be conducted with a registry-based approach and field operations will be carried out to correct deficiencies and validate the information.

Goodarzi added: some of the information related to housing and population characteristics will also be completed during field operations to increase the quality and accuracy of the data used in planning.
He emphasized the necessity of improving the quality and coverage of registry data and said: the more complete and accurate the registry information of different agencies is, the less need there will be for field operations and the census will be implemented faster and more accurately.

The head of the Statistical Center of Iran also emphasized the necessity of proper public information about how the census will be conducted and called for the cooperation of relevant agencies and the provincial radio and television for explaining the process of implementing this national plan to the people.
Goodarzi, referring to the importance of accurate data in the country's planning, said: the information obtained from the General Population and Housing Census will be used in decision-making and policymaking and the completion and validation of the data is of special importance.
Correct statistics and information help to properly identify the needs of society
The Deputy of Statistics and Information of the Fars Management and Planning Organization considered development and progress as an ideal pursued by various countries and said achieving it requires planning in different areas and added: governments, by having correct statistics and information, can accurately identify the needs of society and based on that organize economic, social and cultural development programs.
According to IRNA, Saeed Reza Zarei added: therefore official statistics, as a social capital, play a determining role in the planning system.
He continued: in order to obtain timely and high-quality statistics, the transition from the traditional statistical system to a modern statistical system has been placed on the agenda of the Statistical Center of Iran and if the country's statistical system wants not to fall behind other leading countries in progress and development, it must as soon as possible operationalize the production of statistical data based on registry data (registry-based statistics).
