Bentley has finally unveiled its first all-electric production car called the Torcal, a model that represents the brand's fourth production line and is intended to offer a combination of advanced electric vehicle technology and Bentley's traditional luxury.
According to ITNA quoting Arenaev, unlike many luxury electric cars, the Torcal does not try to abandon Bentley's traditional identity and instead carries the same focus on quality, comfort and craftsmanship into the electric car era.
The Torcal uses the Premium Platform Electric shared with the Porsche Cayenne, but Bentley engineers have tuned its active suspension to provide a smoother, more comfortable ride. Fully active dampers can control each wheel independently and manage body motions without the need for a mechanical anti-roll bar.
The car in base trim has 821 horsepower and 1,194 newton-meters of torque and can accelerate from zero to 97 km/h in 3.3 seconds. The Torcal S raises power to 888 horsepower and torque to 1,350 newton-meters, and its zero to 97 km/h time is only 2.8 seconds. Top speed is also electronically limited to 261 km/h.
This five-metre SUV is equipped with a 113 kWh battery and an 800-volt architecture and, according to the European test cycle, travels up to 604 kilometres. A 400 kW fast charge also allows charging from 10 to 80 percent in about 16 minutes.
Inside, Bentley continues to emphasize physical controls, hand-stitched leather, precise metalwork and luxurious materials. The use of 100 percent merino wool and ombré walnut wood veneer also highlights the vehicle's handcrafted aspect. The Torcal starts at €203,200 and the S at €233,700.
