About this place

Marjan Palace is located in the northern part of the island, behind the Marjan Grand Bazaar, a short distance from the sea with access from the coastal route and the Marjan Bazaar. This palace was designed and built during the Pahlavi era by the Mercury Company and its architecture is based on simplicity; it uses the typical forms of the island’s buildings, emphasizing broken arches (a symbol of the island’s architecture), high elevations, jagged surfaces and covered passages that provide the necessary ventilation in the hot and humid areas of the northern shores of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. The scale of the building and the grandeur of the created spaces demonstrate the required splendor for such a structure. This monument was registered as a national heritage of Iran on 6 May 2009 with registration number 26579, and any demolition or tampering with it is considered a crime in accordance with Articles 558 to 569 of Book Five of the Islamic Penal Code and the perpetrator will be subject to legal punishments.
