About this place
Baghu Village is located on the southern fringe of the island and is the only old village of Kish that has retained its courtyard-based layout. In this village there is a very small mosque with an inscription dated 1342, and in the past there was a qanat route and several sweet water wells (cow-wells) to provide drinking water for residents and to irrigate fields and palm groves.
Baghu has long had soil suitable for cultivation, and particular plant species such as konar, keever, lor (Bengal fig), asbar, bombar, ghaf, gharab, lambau and tamarind are seen there. Now a few plots of land are used on a limited basis and with traditional methods to grow vegetables, and thirteen households live in the village who generally make a living from farming and animal husbandry.
