ChatGPT, by expanding its integration with Google Drive, has enabled direct access to Google Drive files and editing them from within the chat environment. This feature is available to users on paid plans and allows them to add Google Drive files to the ChatGPT Library and ask questions about their content without leaving the chat.
According to ITResna quoting 9to5mac, to add a file, the user can tap the + button to the left of the message box and select Add from Library. After the file is added to the library, ChatGPT can directly access its content and answer the user's questions about the file.
The most important part of this integration is the ability to open and edit Google Drive files directly inside ChatGPT. This way, the user does not need to constantly switch between ChatGPT and apps like Google Docs or Google Sheets to edit a document or make other changes. Of course, there is still an option to open the file in the original Google app.
According to the ChatGPT product lead, edits are applied to the actual file stored in Google Drive and ChatGPT does not merely create a static copy of the document. This feature can simplify collaboration between AI and everyday work files and make ChatGPT more of an environment for directly performing document-related tasks than before.
This capability was introduced alongside several other new features. One of them is the Quiz tool, which allows the user to ask ChatGPT to test them on a specific topic. This tool can create an interactive quiz including multiple-choice questions, navigation between questions, and a hint option.
Also this week ChatGPT expanded its integration with Yelp for booking tables and joining restaurant waitlists and introduced another feature to provide high-quality recommendations from the home page for paid users.
