Google is developing a feature called Rambler in Gboard; an AI-based tool designed to improve speech-to-text conversion on Android phones. Rambler can remove extra words and pauses during voice dictation and make the text flow more smoothly and neatly. Examination of the Gboard beta version 18.0.3 shows that Google has planned new customization options for this feature.

According to Ietna quoting Android Authority, in the new version users can choose between Standard and Rambler modes for voice dictation, and each mode provides additional settings. One of Rambler's interesting features is using words from the user's personal dictionary. This means the tool does not have to learn the words the user uses from scratch.

More importantly, there is a section called Rambler Dictionary. According to observed information, this section can include words Rambler has learned while using the voice typing feature. Therefore, it is possible that Gboard's AI can gradually adapt to the vocabulary and terminology used by each user; although Google has not yet announced details on how this system works.

Rambler supports an offline mode in addition to a cloud-based mode. However, in offline mode some advanced features like text-style rewriting and complex conversational editing are not available, but features such as basic punctuation, text correction, and capitalization still work.

However, there is one important ambiguity about Rambler. Google has emphasized on its support page that this feature has usage limitations, but it is still unclear exactly how this limitation will be applied. Users may only have access to offline mode after reaching a certain usage cap, or Rambler use may be completely restricted. Google has not yet provided details on this matter.
