About this place
The built-up area is 1,200 square meters and it has 15 rooms; a roughly 200-year-old building that belonged to the late Haj Abdullah bin Shaheen, a pearl trader, owner of one of the largest sailing lighters of that time and skilled in trade and galafi (lighter-building). He was a well-known and popular figure in Kish over the past 80 years.
This house was converted into the "Kish Indigenous Anthropology House" to introduce the history, culture, customs and traditions, livelihoods and handicrafts of Kish’s indigenous people, and also to create employment and local participation in tourism and realize sustainable tourism development. All rooms and spaces have been restored while preserving traditional architecture and using local materials, and they display the lifestyle of Kish’s indigenous people over the past 80 years.
