Marjan Palace is located in the northern part of the island, behind Marjan Grand Bazaar, a short distance from the sea and accessible to other facilities via a branch road from the coastal route and Marjan Bazaar. This palace is one of the buildings that was designed and constructed during the Pahlavi era by a company called Mercury. The architecture of Marjan Palace, while featuring simplicity as a primary criterion, uses the typical forms of the island's existing buildings and emphasizes broken arches (the main expression of the island's architecture); by using high elevations, broken surfaces, and covered pathways, it provides the necessary ventilation for buildings in the hot and humid regions of the northern coast of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. The large extent of the building and the grandeur of the created spaces together demonstrate the necessary splendor for such structures.
This site was registered as one of Iran's national heritage sites on 6 May 2009 with registration number 26579. Any destruction or interference with the said site is considered a crime under Articles 558 to 569 of Book Five of the Islamic Penal Code “Ta'zirat and Deterrent Punishments,” and the offender will be subject to legal penalties.
