About this place

In 1984, thirty deer were transferred from Khark Island to Kish with the cooperation of the Department of Environment to support the propagation of the protected Iranian deer and to increase the island's attractions. These deer, of the Iranian goitered gazelle species native to plain and steppe regions, are now seen scattered in herds across most parts of the island, especially the east and south, and watching them at close range is a common and appealing activity for visitors. The survival and population increase of Kish's deer are related to the availability of suitable environmental conditions, the construction of drinking troughs, and the distribution of forage in various parts of the island.
