Garmin Fenix 9 is the new generation of Garmin’s rugged sports smartwatches, and information about it leaked before the official unveiling on August 25, 2026. According to these details, the Fenix 9 family will include 18 different models in total and, like the previous generation, will be offered in 43, 47, and 51 mm sizes.
According to Etna citing Phonearena, Garmin apparently intends to offer standard and Fenix 9 Pro versions, and some non‑Pro models may also support inReach technology. This technology enables communication via LTE and satellite networks in remote areas; a feature that could make the Fenix 9 a more serious competitor to the Apple Watch Ultra.
One of the important features of this lineup is solar charging, which can continue to be one of Garmin watches’ strengths for athletes, mountaineers, and adventure users. However, the new leak suggests the regular Fenix 9 Solar will likely not be offered without the Pro suffix. This raises concerns about a price increase for models equipped with solar charging.
Price is also one of the biggest unknowns for the Fenix 9. Based on leaked prices in the Czech Republic, the 43 mm AMOLED model without Pro, inReach, and solar charging capabilities may cost around $1,185. As a result, the base price of the Fenix 9 in the US may reach about $1,200 and higher‑end models could be priced up to around $1,500.
Alongside the Fenix 9, a new generation of the Garmin Enduro 3 and a new Fenix E edition have also been rumored. However, no definitive information about these two products has been released so far. Overall, with a focus on high durability, sports capabilities, satellite connectivity, and solar charging, the Fenix 9 could be one of the Apple Watch Ultra’s most important competitors in the professional smartwatch market.
