According to the Public Relations and International Affairs of the Kish Free Zone Organization, on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of Kish Island's aviation industry infrastructure projects, the operating certificate and the airport certificate renewal were presented to the Director General of Kish International Airport in the presence of Mohammad Kabiri, CEO of the Kish Free Zone Organization, and Abuzar Shiroudi, Head of the Civil Aviation Organization.

These certificates were issued after a specialized audit and evaluation process of 742 regulatory items across three main areas: management and organizational structure, airport operations, and airport infrastructure.

The evaluation process of Kish International Airport was conducted from 26 to 29 October 2025 by a seven-member technical team from the Civil Aviation Organization, during which various airport sections including the runway, taxiway, apron, airport equipment, firefighting services, low-visibility operations, emergency conditions, safety requirements, management system, and operational documentation were reviewed.

Based on the issued certificates, Kish International Airport has been approved by the Civil Aviation Organization for operations during day and night and for flights under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual Flight Rules (VFR).

The renewal of this certificate indicates the compliance of Kish International Airport’s infrastructure, equipment, operational processes, and safety requirements with the regulations and standards approved by the Civil Aviation Organization.

Additionally, the operator certificate confirms the competence and responsibility of Kish Ports and Airports Development and Management Company to operate the airport within the framework of the communicated requirements, regulations, and standards.

Receiving these certificates, while confirming the continuity of adherence to operational and safety standards at Kish International Airport, provides the basis for the continuation of aviation activities and the development of the island’s airport capacities.

It is worth noting that the ceremony was held with the presence of the Deputy for Aviation and International Affairs of the Civil Aviation Organization, the Director General of Mehrabad International Airport, the CEO of Atlas Air, deputies of the Kish Free Zone Organization, CEOs of subsidiary companies, the Sunni Friday Prayer Leader of Kish, community heads of Kish, and a group of the island’s managers and officials, and two projects - a Boeing 737 flight simulator and the Kish airport parking expansion plan - were inaugurated at the event.
