How did Tecno reduce screen bezel to zero millimeters?

Tecno unveiled a concept phone with an almost bezel-less display at IFA 2026; a product that attempts to bring the concept of “0 millimeter screen bezel” closer to reality.

According to ITNA citing GSM Arena, at first glance this phone has no visible black bezel around the screen, which gives it a futuristic appearance.

However, removing the bezels does not mean the inactive display area has completely disappeared. Tecno used a double-layer protective glass where the lower part sits around the phone’s mid-frame and hides the inactive areas and black bezels. Also, for building this device the display assembly process was changed and the display module is inserted into the body from the rear. A dedicated heat-activated adhesive also secures the second layer of protective glass at the front.

The user experience with Tecno’s bezel-less phone shows this technology is not just a visual change. Apps, visual content, and UI elements extend almost to the edges of the screen, making the display look larger and more immersive than typical phones. Nevertheless, the concept prototype is not completely flawless and a small amount of black band is visible at the bottom of the screen.

To compensate for the lack of sufficient space around the display, Tecno has also revised touch sensitivity and the way UI elements are designed. These changes could pave the way for the use of bezel-less display technology in future flagship phones.

This concept phone is equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, 1.5K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, and has a thin, lightweight body. Its design and hardware also share similarities with the newly introduced Tecno Camon Slim. Overall, although Tecno’s bezel-less phone is still a concept product, it shows smartphone makers continue to seek ways to increase screen-to-body ratio.
