Apple unveiled its new generation of flagship phones, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, during the “Wonder and Shine” event. Although the potential introduction of Apple’s first foldable iPhone drew a lot of attention to the event, the two new flagship models still count as among the most important products unveiled at the ceremony.
According to ETNA, the Apple unveiling ceremony is still ongoing and full details of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have not yet been fully announced, but Apple showcased some of the most important features of the new generation of Pro iPhones in the first part of the event.
Apple began introducing the iPhone 18 Pro at the start of its event, and a significant portion of the ceremony’s focus was dedicated to new Siri capabilities. However, hardware and camera changes were also among the most notable points discussed about these two phones.
One of the most notable new features of the iPhone 18 Pro is the camera’s variable aperture; a feature that can give users greater control over the amount of light entering the sensor and, consequently, the quality and appearance of images.
According to Tom’s Guide, on the processing side Apple has equipped the iPhone 18 Pro with the new A20 Pro chip. This chip is expected to provide greater processing power to the Pro models and will likely play a significant role in running advanced AI features and new iOS capabilities.
Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in four colors: black, silver, light blue, and crimson, giving users more choices compared to previous generations.
Despite the official introduction of these two phones, the Apple event is not yet over and more details about technical specifications, cameras, display, battery, AI features, and the price of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be announced as the event continues.
Also, one of the most important products that may be introduced later in the event is Apple’s foldable iPhone; a product that could mark one of the most distinct changes in iPhone history.
Siri AI; iPhone 18 Pro’s special focus on AI capabilities
Continuing the iPhone 18 Pro introduction, Apple explained more details of the phone’s AI capabilities. However, much of the information presented about Siri AI had already been discussed at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2026) and some of those same features were emphasized again at this event.
The iPhone 18 Pro is designed from the ground up with a special focus on running AI features, and users of this phone can take advantage of the latest AI-based Siri capabilities.
One of these features is Expressive Voices, which enables more natural and dynamic interaction with Siri. Improved dictation is another feature that drew attention in this section.
Supporting advanced on-device AI capabilities requires powerful hardware, and the iPhone 18 Pro is equipped with at least 12 GB of RAM for this purpose. This memory capacity can enable running AI models on-device without constant reliance on cloud processing.
Other AI capabilities of the iPhone 18 Pro include Siri mode in the camera, more advanced AI image editing tools, and generative AI models used in Image Playground.
The A20 Pro chip; more power for AI
As expected, the iPhone 18 Pro is equipped with the new A20 Pro chip; a chip Apple developed with a special focus on AI processing and which also represents a significant performance improvement over the previous generation.
The A20 Pro chip features a 6-core CPU that includes two high-performance cores and four efficiency cores. According to Apple, the two high-performance cores of this chip are about 20 percent faster than the previous generation.
The combination of high-performance and efficiency cores in the A20 Pro not only increases processing power but also enables faster execution of AI-related tasks. Apple emphasizes that this architecture is designed to deliver very low-latency on-device AI processing.
Apple also claims that the A20 Pro offers the fastest processor among smartphones; a claim that will need to be evaluated in performance reviews and real comparisons between the iPhone 18 Pro and competing flagships.
As the event continues, Apple is expected to announce more details about AI capabilities, the performance of the A20 Pro chip, and other features of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
ETNA will update the official details and specifications announced about the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max as the Apple event continues.
