Apple entered the foldable phone market with the introduction of the iPhone Duo, and early hands-on experiences show that its design is also very striking in the real world. This phone is considered Apple's first foldable iPhone and features a design different from the usual iPhone models.
According to ITNA, citing 9to5Mac, the iPhone Duo is equipped with a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR inner display that, once opened, provides much more space for working, watching content, and performing various tasks. On the outside there is also a 5.4-inch display so the device can still be used like a regular phone when closed.
One important aspect of the iPhone Duo's design is the nano-textured matte coating of the inner display. This coating, while reducing light reflection, makes the folding crease less noticeable. Early use indicates that the display crease is difficult to see from most angles. The phone's hinge design is another area that has attracted attention in initial reviews.
In terms of design, the iPhone Duo has a very futuristic appearance and its foldable form can create new uses for productivity and media consumption. The software experience also appears to be one of the device's strengths; when opening and closing the phone, a gradual fade effect is applied in the user interface that smooths transitions between the device's different modes.
The iPhone Duo will be offered with a base capacity of 256 gigabytes and its price starts at $1,999. Preorders for this phone will begin on October 16 and its official release is scheduled for October 23.
