Honor unveiled MagicOS 11, the new version of its Android 17–based user interface, during its global developers conference. The most important change in this version is its new glass-like design, inspired by the appearance of iOS and developed using the proprietary "Luminous" and "Hummingbird" architectures.

According to ITNA quoting GSM Arena, Honor says the new architectures not only optimize the interface’s appearance and dynamics but also improve AI processing and hardware performance. The company claims that despite the new graphical design, system animation speed in MagicOS 11 is 10 to 20 percent higher than in MagicOS 10.

The new user interface also offers updated icons, menus, and widgets to users. The ability to customize the home screen icon colors and the bottom section of the screen is another of this version’s visual features.

One of the most significant changes in MagicOS 11 relates to the Yoyo AI assistant. The new version of this assistant is configured for more than 1,000 scenarios and, in China, can connect to over 10,000 third-party AI services. Honor even claims Yoyo can perform some complex, multi-step tasks involving up to 100 steps.

The Storage Space 2.0 feature is another new capability. This technology enables lossless compression of stored data and, according to Honor, can free up to 60 GB of storage space.

MagicOS 11 also makes file sharing and connectivity between devices easier and will enable seamless communication with Apple ecosystem products as well as Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi devices.

This user interface will first be released on the Honor Magic 9 series phones. A public beta has also begun for more than 18 devices including the Magic 8 series, Magic V6, and Honor 600 models. Some other models, such as the Magic 6 series, Magic V3, and the Honor 400 and 500 series, are eligible for internal testing, and the next wave of devices is scheduled to be added to the program in October and November.
