AMD has become the fourth American chipmaker to reach a market value of more than one trillion dollars.
According to Ittna quoting Techspot, before AMD, Broadcom, Micron and Nvidia had crossed this threshold. This occurred as AMD's shares experienced a very significant rise in 2026, nearly tripling.
AMD shares started 2026 at $223.47 and at times fell below $200, but from April began a strong upward trend. The company's share price is now reported at about $607.24; a rise that has brought AMD's market value into the one-trillion-dollar range.
Among technology companies, Nvidia still has a significant lead over other competitors. The company crossed the one-trillion-dollar mark in May 2023 and, with the continued boom in artificial intelligence, its market value has reached about $5.48 trillion. Apple with about $4.94 trillion, Google with $4.29 trillion and Microsoft with $3.69 trillion are also among the world's most valuable companies.
On the other hand, Intel, AMD's traditional rival in the processor market, experienced a 208 percent increase in its share value in 2026, but its market value is about $643.5 billion and it still lags far behind AMD. Qualcomm's shares have also risen by nearly 8.3 percent and Broadcom has had more limited growth.
Lisa Su, AMD's CEO, had previously stated that the company expects to double its datacenter product sales in 2027. Despite AMD benefiting from the AI boom, the continuation of this growth depends on demand for AI hardware. However, AMD's diversified activities across different sectors could become more important if AI demand decreases.
