The competition between wide foldable phones has entered a new stage with the arrival of the iPhone Duo and the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
According to ITNA quoting PhoneArena, both products have attracted a lot of attention and early sales data indicate significant demand for Samsung's foldable phone. However, a new PhoneArena poll shows that the popularity of these two phones is not the same among participants.
In this poll, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 managed to secure more than 40 percent of users' votes, creating a noticeable gap with the iPhone Duo. The iPhone Duo, with 29 percent of the votes, ranked lower; a result that is notable given the wide attention the first Apple foldable phone has received.
The poll results also show that users' tastes in the foldable phone market are changing. Only about 9 percent of participants stated that they prefer traditional book-style foldable phones. These models usually have a tall, narrow screen, and it now appears that some users have become more interested in a wider form closer to the size of a passport.
Meanwhile, about 15 percent of participants still dislike foldable phones and prefer a regular monolithic-design phone. Of course, this rate has decreased compared to similar previous polls; a topic that could indicate a gradual increase in adoption of foldable phones among users, although the pace of this trend is still below the industry's initial expectations.
Chinese wide foldable phones also did not perform very strongly in this poll. The Pura X Max received only 1.68 percent and the Xiaomi 18 Fold about 5.28 percent of the votes. The lack of official availability of these products in the U.S. market could be one of the factors affecting these results.
Overall, the poll shows that the wide form of foldable phones is attracting more attention and it is likely that more models with this design will enter the market in the coming years. Of course, the results of an online poll cannot be taken as a definitive representation of the entire market or the preferences of all users.
