According to the Public Relations and International Affairs of the Kish Free Zone Organization, in this meeting the latest state of readiness of service providers, passive defense measures in the health sector, equipping a marine ambulance, the deployment of emergency services at the port, as well as the status of supply of staple goods and pharmaceutical reserves were reviewed and the necessity of revising and updating agencies' readiness was emphasized.

Emphasis on building preparedness and prevention of potential damage

Mohammadhossein Hassani, Cultural and Social Deputy of the Kish Free Zone Organization, referring to the coordination made between the responsible agencies, said: necessary decisions for inter-agency coordination have been taken so that possible shortages and needs are identified and, if necessary, quickly addressed and service providers can deliver their services more strongly and accurately in crisis conditions.

He stated that the reports presented show the agencies' readiness as appropriate, and added: given the forecasts regarding the potential severity of the El Niño phenomenon, agencies need to review and update their assessments once more so that they continue operating with maximum readiness in possible crisis conditions.

The Cultural and Social Deputy of the Kish Free Zone Organization also, referring to the status of supply of public provisions on the island, said: according to reports provided by the Organization's Economic Deputy, the reserves required for 28 essential items have been forecasted and supplied on the island, and people should not worry about this.

Hassani continued, emphasizing the necessity of cooperation by citizens and building managers: residents and building managers should now inspect roofs and balconies and address items that could become dangerous during heavy rainfall.

Referring to unoccupied units in buildings and towers, he added: building managers should be in contact with unit owners and, if there is a possibility of flooding or defects in vacant units, pursue the matter.

The Cultural and Social Deputy of the Kish Free Zone Organization continued: coordination has also been made with the Kish prosecutor so that in cases where there is a possibility of flooding or defects in vacant units, the necessary legal actions for entering and inspecting these units are taken to prevent possible damage.

Hassani also asked Kish residents that if the island enters unfavorable weather conditions, they refrain from unnecessary travel and presence in thoroughfares so that service and rescue agencies can perform their duties more quickly and accurately.

Strengthening health and medical preparedness for possible crisis conditions

Mohammadreza Rezania, acting head of the Kish Health Center, also at the end of this meeting, referring to the notification of the El Niño issue by the National Passive Defense Council and the Ministry of Health guidelines, said: in the area of supplying essential health materials and items, including vaccines, as well as preventing water- and food-borne diseases and vector-related diseases, the necessary forecasts have been made and related actions are being implemented.

Referring to the status of the island's pharmaceutical reserves, he added: there is currently a drug reserve on the island, but it was decided that the matter will also be pursued with the Health Council Secretariat so that, if needed, necessary actions to strengthen the inventory of pharmacies across the island are taken.

The acting head of the Kish Health Center, stating that medical staff from the hospital, health center, Red Crescent and military forces with medical facilities are present on the island, emphasized: the important issue is coordination and division of duties among these entities, and for this purpose coordination drills will be held before a crisis occurs so that each agency's duties in crisis conditions are precisely defined.

He concluded by asking Kish residents to follow weather-related news and warnings and preventive measures from the official information channels of the Kish Free Zone Organization and the national broadcaster so that by reducing unnecessary travel, accidents and increased traffic and medical load in crisis conditions are prevented.
