Meta, by introducing its new AI model Muse Wonder, has taken another step to expand its activities in the field of digital assistants. The company intends to strengthen its position in the competitive AI market by developing assistants that can perform users’ daily and professional tasks with greater autonomy.

Unlike many AI tools that mainly focus on answering questions or generating content, Meta’s new model is designed to manage tasks that may encounter obstacles or unforeseen conditions during execution.

An assistant that doesn’t stop when problems arise

Alexander Wang, head of Meta’s AI division, stated that the Muse Wonder model was developed under the codename “Watermelon” and its primary goal is to increase the capability of personal and professional assistants to carry out real-world tasks.

According to him, assistants based on this model should be able to handle potential issues when performing activities such as booking a restaurant table or checking available times for an appointment.

Wang explained that performing tasks in the real world is always accompanied by obstacles, unexpected conditions, or potential failures. For this reason, Meta has tried to train its new model so that when faced with a problem, instead of stopping, it explores alternative solutions.

The model can also, if necessary, reconnect with the user to obtain the required information or guidance.

Such a capability could play an important role in developing a new generation of AI assistants-assistants that are not limited to executing simple commands and can manage the various stages of an activity.

Monthly subscriptions of $20 to $100 for advanced features

Meta has made its new model available through the Muse personal assistant app, but broader use of its capabilities will not be free.

Users must choose one of the $20 or $100 monthly subscriptions to access the paid tiers of this service.

The rollout of these subscriptions is part of Meta’s effort to create new revenue sources through AI. The company currently earns the bulk of its revenue from online advertising, and developing subscription services could provide a new opportunity to expand its commercial activities.

The Muse app, which launched last month, quickly reached the top of the Apple App Store charts.

The basic version of this app is available for free, while subscription plans enable wider use of the intelligent assistant’s services.

Meta’s focus on security and preventing cyber abuse

Another feature emphasized by Meta in introducing Muse Wonder is the strengthening of the model’s security mechanisms. Meta stated in a post on its official blog that the new model benefits from the company’s most advanced protective measures to counter cyber abuse.

However, the company emphasized that the mentioned security protections are currently offered only in the paid version of the model.

The security of AI assistants becomes particularly important when these tools can act on behalf of users or interact with their services and personal information.

Users’ concerns about access to private messages

Despite the initial welcome for the Muse app, the assistant’s performance has also faced criticism.

Some users on social media have claimed that Meta’s intelligent assistant accessed their private messages without permission; a claim Meta has denied.

According to Etemad quoting CNBC, Alexander Wang said in an interview that Meta’s AI team continuously reviews issues and incidents related to Muse’s performance to identify and resolve their causes.

He also emphasized that the company is working to better educate users on the proper use of the app to reduce the likelihood of problems.

The introduction of Muse Wonder shows that Meta, in addition to developing AI models, is seeking a more serious entry into the subscription-based digital assistant market-a market where success will depend on the ability to perform real tasks, user trust, and the protection of personal information.
