The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, is one of the most anticipated products of the year; but reports indicate that the launch of this phone may be accompanied by serious problems. Limited inventory, production challenges, and possible shipping delays can make purchasing this product difficult in the first weeks of release.

According to ITNA quoting Phonearena, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg and a well-known Apple news source says initial inventory of the iPhone Duo will likely be very limited and production capacity may not meet initial demand. For this reason, people intending to buy this phone are advised to plan to place orders in advance. Preorders in the US are expected to begin on October 16 and the official release to take place on October 23 in more than 70 countries. The phone is also scheduled to enter 28 more markets on October 30.

Production problems for the iPhone Duo are not new. Earlier reports indicated that Apple initially planned to launch this product in late November, but apparently managed to secure the inventory needed for a limited October release. Nevertheless, the production process still faces obstacles. Reports indicate the final assembly yield for this phone in mid‑September was just over 60 percent. This metric shows the share of assembled devices that meet desired standards without needing rework or being discarded.

One possible reason for this situation is Apple's strict quality control standards, which may have slowed production. Some suppliers apparently hoped these requirements would be eased to allow faster production. Reports also suggest it could take up to a year to reach a stable and satisfactory production yield.

To manage demand, Apple is allowing buyers to select color, storage capacity, carrier, AppleCare+ service, and trade‑in options for their old device before preorders begin. This can speed up the ordering process and increase the chances of purchasing in the first days.

Despite the likelihood of high initial sales, the long‑term success of the iPhone Duo is still unclear. The excitement of Apple's entry into the foldable phone market may create strong demand, but after that excitement subsides, user adoption will depend on price, features, and Apple's ability to supply inventory.
