Anthropic's annual revenue run rate surpasses $65 billion; gap with OpenAI widens

Anthropic, the maker of the Claude AI models, continuing its rapid growth trajectory, has reached an annual revenue run rate of more than $65 billion; a figure that indicates demand for the company's products is increasing at an unprecedented pace.

According to Bloomberg, Anthropic's annual revenue run rate exceeded $65 billion at the end of July 2026. That figure was about $47 billion in May 2026 and only about $9 billion at the end of 2025.

"Annual revenue run rate" means an estimate of a company's revenue over a full year based on its revenue performance over a shorter period and does not necessarily represent definitive revenue recorded during a fiscal year.

Anthropic has not responded to requests for comment on the report.

Anthropic on track for $100 billion in revenue

The Financial Times reported that Anthropic's investors expect the company's growth trend to continue in the coming months. According to these forecasts, Anthropic could finish 2026 with an annual revenue run rate between $100 billion and $120 billion.

Such growth would make Anthropic one of the most valuable companies in the AI industry in a short period and would widen its lead over major rivals in terms of revenue growth speed.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported last week that OpenAI has also reached an annual revenue run rate of about $40 billion; a figure that has doubled from roughly $20 billion at the end of 2025.

Of course, direct comparisons of these figures should be made cautiously, because Anthropic and OpenAI may use different metrics to calculate and report revenue. Nevertheless, Anthropic's accelerating revenue growth has drawn the attention of AI market investors.

The Anthropic–OpenAI competition reaches the stock market

The competition between Anthropic and OpenAI is not limited to developing AI models and has now extended to the capital markets. Both companies have filed confidential documents related to initial public offerings (IPO), and Anthropic is expected to go public before OpenAI.

According to the Financial Times, Anthropic is considering a public offering with a valuation of $2 trillion or more. If such a valuation is realized, the company's IPO could become one of the largest in stock market history.

Anthropic's valuation jumped in less than a few months

The most recent known valuation of Anthropic dates to late May 2026, when the company raised about $65 billion in a funding round and its valuation reached about $965 billion.

Now the sharp increase in Anthropic's annual revenue run rate, alongside the possibility of a share offering with a valuation above $2 trillion, indicates that the competition for the generative AI market has entered a new phase; a phase in which the ability to turn AI models into sustainable, scalable revenue has become as important as the quality of the models themselves.
