Google Photos users are widely dissatisfied with the current storage management and cleanup tools, and a new poll clearly shows this.

According to Ietna, quoting Android Authority, more than 6,000 people participated in this poll and fewer than 300 believed the current Google Photos tools are sufficient for freeing up storage. In contrast, about 95 percent of users wanted simpler and more effective ways to manage their space.

This issue has become more important with the increasing quality of smartphone cameras. Today's users capture many more high-quality photos and videos, and Google Photos' free space is no longer sufficient for many of them. In such circumstances, finding and deleting unnecessary files can become a time-consuming and annoying task.

Google currently offers tools to free Google Photos storage, but user experience shows these tools still cannot meet all their needs. One major problem is the absence of a simple and efficient tool to find duplicate photos. Finding similar images or duplicate versions in large libraries can be very difficult manually.

An example of this problem was seen in the experience of one of the writers at Android Authority. After reviewing more than 47,000 backed-up files in his Google Photos library, he was able to free about 23 gigabytes of space. This was done using Google's current tools and manual methods, but the process also revealed the limitations of the current system.

The poll results show the issue is not limited to a few users. Of more than 6,000 participants, fewer than 300 found the current tools sufficient, and almost 19 out of 20 believed that cleaning Google Photos storage should be easier.

Of course, polls with such a question usually receive many affirmative responses, but the agreement of more than 95 percent of participants indicates the problem is serious for a large number of users. Google could make managing Google Photos storage much easier by adding tools such as better duplicate photo detection, categorization of large files, and intelligent cleanup.
