About this place

This structure was built in the style of the traditional plateau Iran ab anbars with five windcatchers and two cylindrical water reservoirs in 1373 SH to introduce an inventive Iranian structure to tourists at the site of one of the island of Kish’s old ruined ab anbars. Its architecture differs from Kish’s local ab anbars; research indicates freshwater transfer and storage installations were main components of the architecture of the city of Harireh, and that there were rectangular ab anbars and many qanat channels there that supplied much of the residents’ water. This traditional ab anbar, which had been built in the Yazdi style in 1371 SH south of the precinct of the historic city of Harireh at the site of one of Harireh’s largest old ab anbar reservoirs, was restored in 1396 SH to establish a café and traditional restaurant and for tourism activities, and since 1400 SH it has been reactivated with the addition of a salt-therapy section and a Quran museum. Address: end of Olympic Boulevard, Derakhte Sabz Street, entrance to the historic city of Harireh.
