About this place
Harireh Mosque is located about 200 meters from the sea and 120 meters east of the noble house. The building was built, expanded, altered, damaged and rebuilt over at least ten successive phases, which include initial construction, spatial expansion, alterations, extensive repairs, contraction of spaces and addition of elements. Based on excavations, its dating relates to the fifth to thirteenth centuries (from the Seljuk period to the early Qajar).
The ancient Kish mosque is a shabestan-type mosque with towers or half-towers supporting the exterior and apparently bears little resemblance to the mosques of the southern region. The current area of the building is 2000 square meters; the longest wall, the qibla wall, is 45 meters long and four mihrabs are embedded in it. There are a total of 91 columns in the structure, of which 73 columns are in the large shabestan and 18 columns are in the eastern shabestan. The materials used include various types of coral and limestone (sedimentary or non-sedimentary) and a mortar composed of lime, gypsum and soil.
