The electric Range Rover has finally entered the sales phase, and the brand’s first luxury electric SUV is being offered in the U.S. with a base price of $140,450.
According to ITNA quoting Electrek, after more than 61,000 people registered on the interested list, this vehicle can now be officially ordered and is set to offer a combination of luxury, off-road capability, and the strong performance of electric cars.
The Range Rover Electric remains clearly a Range Rover in design, but to improve aerodynamics and efficiency it features changes such as a closed grille, new wheels, and a bespoke underbody design. JLR has stated that this model has undergone the most extensive testing in Range Rover history to reach high levels of comfort, performance, and reliability.
The heart of the electric Range Rover is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that produces 542 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. This combination enables 0–60 mph in just 4.3 seconds - a performance Range Rover says is on par with V8 engines.
This luxury SUV uses a 118.5 kWh lithium-ion battery with 344 prismatic cells. Its official EPA range is about 333 miles, equivalent to 536 kilometers, and under the WLTP standard it is rated up to 372 miles, about 599 kilometers.
The 800-volt architecture also enables fast charging. The battery charges from 10 to 80 percent in around 22 minutes, and a 10-minute charge can add about 136 miles, or close to 219 kilometers, of range. Models sold in North America are also equipped with an NACS inlet and can use Tesla Supercharger networks without an adapter.
The electric Range Rover is not designed for road use only. The vehicle can wade through water up to 900 mm deep, and new traction and torque management technologies enable the electric motors to react quickly for challenging terrain.
The base SE model starts at $140,450, while the Range Rover Electric LWB First Edition is offered at $183,850. This edition includes more luxury features such as a front console refrigerator and the Tailgate Event Suite package.
