Hendorabi or Hendrabi, which is said to be a variation of "Andar Abi" and means "in the water," is the name of a beautiful and pristine island, in the northwest of Kish Island and at the closest distance to the southern coast of the mainland, which is on the verge of a great and historic transformation in realizing its unique capacities, and it is hoped that with the efforts and attention of all officials and enthusiasts and under a committed perspective and with a sustainable development approach it will become an incomparable gem in the Persian Gulf. The village of Hendorabi, with an approximate area of 8.5 hectares and occupying 0.4 percent of the total area of the island, is located on the northern coast of the island. This village had a population of 128 people in 2006. The local inhabitants of the island speak Persian and Arabic. The vast majority of the island's people are Muslim and follow the Sunni Shafi'i school. The main activities of the people of this island are fishing and diving which, due to the lack of necessary facilities, have a very low catch volume.
The village has one school and one mosque. The island's water supply in the past was through wells and a cistern and currently is through a desalination unit. The island's electricity is also produced and distributed using a diesel generator.
At present, besides the indigenous people, about 50 personnel of the coastguard, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, green space workers, port staff and employees of the Kish Free Zone Organization, desalination unit personnel and power generator staff reside on that island.
